It has actually been approximately a week since The Soul Sanctuary adopted this new logo. A friend of mine commented that the blue curve looks like the extension of the black curve. They look like one though it is still obvious that the blue one and the black one are separate objects.
The new logo was designed with “The Flow” in mind. Curve is the most representative figure so far. In graphical psychology, “curve” represents the smooth and continuous flow, it is light and never forceful. I feel the same impression from the figure. In fact, it is the reason I used a curve symbol (~) as separator within my posts. The symbol I would like to integrate to the logo itself.
During the designing process, I found that the big black curve is quite harmonious with the “y” letter. So both components are merged to create even smoother and more integrated logo. However, on overall, the logo still felt a bit harsh and conflicting. The massive-and-rigid title “The Soul Sanctuary” was not fully in-tune with the light-and-smooth black curve, even after both elements were merged (through “y” letter).
So then third element was created–the blue curve–to balance things out. While maintaining harmony with the flow of the black curve, the blue curve has its own purpose; to diminish the rigidity of the title. So, in a way, the blue curve has to have its own identity as well as being one with the main flow of the logo–that is, the black curve.
Now that my friend commented that way, I realized that there is a truth in the logo. The blue curve eventually represents the life of a person walking a conscious spiritual way of life. A consciously spiritual person is aware that he is The Whole experiencing Itself from a unique point of view. That is why he is always in attunement with The Flow of The Universe, while retaining a degree of individuality…
My friend also asked why the blue curve engulfed the”r” letter from the title. She then concluded that I had unconsciously done that to highlight my initial as the blog owner–Rizal Affif. Nah, about that one, I was actually only looking for a letter closest to “y” so that the blue curve can maintain optimal harmony with the black curve while retaining its individuality. But hey, that’s some joke, alright
