When you see ego arises high in others,
and control them,
is it your own overwhelmed ego that does the judgment?

A small ego is a dangerous thing – is the ego big or small? equally dangerous.
The recognition that there is not an ego and that this display is one side of a coin. The larger the shiny side the larger the dirty side. I always feel for the “great” as they have so far to fall.

How interesting . . I’ve just written a post of my own on the subject of the ego, I pop over here Rizal and what do I find? Hm . . .
. . . I resonate with the words of Ta-Wan

ego…big or small…loves to feed off ego, either within oneself or another.

Yep. This was from my own reflection when I said to myself that a discussion mate of mine had so great ego. Thankfully that time I was pretty aware about myself–that the judgment came from my ego, who is seemingly offended and wounded by his ego. What a trick!
Now I can be more aware of ego’s similar trick–I will not caught off guard again :p
Thanks Folks

Ego can be subdued but never eliminated.
It waits in the dawn and the dusk, when men are least alert, to sneak into his camp and weave its mirages.
As Lao Tzu advises:
The Master is like a soldier in the enemy’s camp: always vigilant, always alert.

@ Crow: yep, it can never be eliminated. After all, it is meant to be transcended, not to be eliminated
thanks for addition
@ Surjit: I keep that last line myself
thank you

The hardest and easiest thing is to let go of the desire to exert any control. As you choose to let go and let energy flow, you begin to remember the feeling of unconditional acceptance of your true self as well as whatever you project to jog the memory.

Brilliant discussion.
Ego can never be fully banished because to have a point of view at all creates relative opposites. Ego can be matured and purged of the perception of being separated though. In this way, the benefit of all as opposed to the benefit of the individual comes to be the ego’s view. As with everything, a balance allows us to experience the peace that is always there.

@ Liara: Hardest and easiest… letting go of desire to control is a paradox indeed
@ C. Om: Yeah, I think so too. It cannot be banished, it’s part of us we need to accept–to me, what is important is not to let it in control.
